The Beauty of Autumn Nature Photography

Autumn is easily my favorite season. The colors of the changing leaves & the crisp cool air creates a feeling for me that is very difficult to describe. Each and every year I look forward to it with great anticipation and enjoy every singe day of the match towards winter. Have you ever wondered what Autumn actually is?

What is Autumn?

Autumn, also known as fall in North American English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere), when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses, until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the shedding of leaves from deciduous trees.

What Causes Leaves To Change Colors?

As summer fades into fall, the days grow shorter and the amount of sunlight is greatly reduced. This is a signal for leaves to prepare for winter and to stop making chlorophyll. As this happens, green begins to fade and is replaced by the beautiful reds, oranges and yellow of autumn!
